A Decade in Rewind: 2010-2020.

It was brought to my attention a few weeks back that, we are indeed at the end of another decade.  These memes and blog posts remind us to pause, and take stock of the time we have spent, and what we have done. This decade has been, by far, the most eventful of my life.  For the sake of this writing, I will break it down into bullet points, which have links.  The links can be followed to a blog post from that year. Now, if you are seeing this, it's safe to assume you either know me personally, know of me personally, are one of my offspring, or know me through my work in the Pagan Community.

Musings

I have been reading quite a bit recently, in preparation for future classes, and to cause myself to do a bit of a deep dive in regards to the subjects I think I know. Every now and again, this sort of thing needs to be done, you have to challenge ideas about your past so that you can further evolve them. Seemingly unrelated subjects, but very much in the milieu of this, I got to thinking about my beginnings as a practitioner. My parents were New Agers.  My siblings and I carried crystals as children, we spent time in the garden, we knew astrological signs, we read the Llewellyn calendar to determine when to plant our plants, and when to buy cars and make wise business decisions. Add in my autism, (which back then the traits were tied to my learning disability of "Dyspraxia Nervosa") and you have a really weird kid.  I was concerned about the movements of the clouds, the trees, the stars and knew when my bedroom door swung open at 3am it was probably my Grandma coming to che...

Mine is a Cautionary Tale

Mine is a cautionary tale If you beg for your burdens to be taken away... I understand. Your burdens are great; too much for anyone to bear. but you have and you keep doing it every single day. If you beg for those burdens to be taken from you. they may very well be taken. and you will have no recourse. the universe doesn't offer an explanatory period. They may be taken but not in the way that you wish or expect. So, if you come to me with those complaints be not surprised when I turn my ear away not because I do not care, but because I do. Because the universe can hear through me and I do not want what has happened to me to happen to anyone ever again and if you beg for reprieve you may just be lucky enough to receive it. I live now this silent life in a house that used to be filled with the laughter of children all because I wanted a way to have more time to be me a selfish desire in a sea of survival. I mourn for my...

So, what am I up to, exactly?

A word about shameless self-promotion and getting yourself out there So, Dee, what the hell is your message and what are you trying to do with all of this shameless self-promotion that you've been doing? It's a question you've asked me without opening your mouth.  Some of my friends got sick of it and stopped following me on Facebook.  That's ok, I'm not hurt by it. You see, I started writing these very inspired Facebook posts about a year ago to encourage my friends and family who were suffering through life and the living of it.  I am always broke as a joke, and so the best I could figure was to try to send out an inspiring message or 2 a day.  This way, we all keep each other afloat, and we are hold each other's hearts. I'm not doing this to sell books; that is a happy by product.  I haven't made much money off of the book I wrote, and that really wasn't the point.  The point was to get it out there, into people's hands, so that I have ...

Spirituality in the time of revolution

First of all, let's call it for what we see.  This is a revolution. Revolutions are not known for being polite affairs that keep the feelings of all parties in mind.  They are uproarious, sometimes violent affairs.  They usually result in a loss of life. We live now in a place where racism is out there, and it can be seen and heard again. Hatred, bigotry and all of the unhappy things that go with it. We are not united still, however.  Everyone wants to take their own unique viewpoint about what is and what is not acceptable.  It's fine for you to have those viewpoints, but let's just start at the place that 98% of us can agree with.  We don't want war, we don't want white supremacists or neo-Nazi's running our country. Now, someone is going to argue with me and tell me this civil unrest is not a revolution.  It is a small group of "Antifa" or "alt-left" individuals who are causing the "trouble".  But, let's just have a lo...

Exploration into the labyrinth

Today we are heading to the lavender labyrinth in Shelby, Michigan. I was previously unaware of the powers of the labyrinth and it's ability to put one in a trance-like state, and moreover why that could be useful.  I wasn't taking this trip for me, per se, but for the sisters that I have been working with in the Red Tent group that I am apart of.  Slowly but surely one by one had to drop off due to lack of spoons, that is, the need for self care due to illness- both visable and invisible.  So our 3 car caravan has dropped to one car. Things are as they are.  The plans for the day were altered, but only slightly.  My husband, daughter and I headed out at about 11:30 to make the long drive.  Our journey will take us today to the shores of Lake Michigan. I have a great resonace with the Great Lakes, and as a child in Michigan, always have.  When I was very small, my family lived in a small town just off of Lake Superior.  The lake was so large t...
